About the College
Established in 1973, The University of Alabama's College of Communication and Information Sciences began life as the School of Communication, becoming the College of Communication in 1988. In 1997, when the College merged with the School of Library and Information Studies (Established 1969), it was renamed the College of Communication and Information Sciences.
