Spotlight: Love and Possibilities
Love for writing, love for UA and seeing the instructors' love for teaching led this junior journalism major from Enterprise to Tuscaloosa.
Name: Amanda Bayhi
Hometown: Enterprise, AL
Anticipated Graduation Date: May 2012
Why I chose my major:
I've loved to write since I was in elementary school, and that love has continued to grow since. I couldn't imagine doing anything else, but I really didn't want to major in English. When I learned about all the possibilities I'd have in journalism, I knew it was right for me.
Why I chose UA:
I've always been an Alabama fan, so of course it was on my list of colleges to consider. When I visited the campus, I fell in love with it. It's so beautiful, and the instructors really seem to love teaching.
After I graduate, I plan to attend graduate school here at Alabama for my master's in journalism. I hope to eventually become a magazine editor, though I'm not completely sure where I want to go.
Best thing about college so far:
My overall experience at UA so far has been amazing. One of my favorite experiences is going to football games, which
are a lot more fun to attend than to watch on television. I also really like that most of my instructors make my classes interesting.
