Grace House Ministries

    • Location: Birminham, Alabama
    • Grace House Ministries, a nonprofit organization in the metro-Birmingham area, is seeking Development Interns for the summer and fall semesters (30 hours per week). Grace House has three residential group homes and support 24 girls, ages 6-18, who have been abused or neglected. The internship will primarily focus on communications in a public relations capacity in an effort to raise awareness and raise funds for the organization’s $ 1 Million budget. The intern will receive instruction, guidance, and evaluation on all assignments, and all activities will be performed under the supervision of the intern supervisor and pertinent organizational staff.
    • Responsibilities:
      • To assist with planning and facilitating all events
      • To research new grant opportunities and create time lines for each proposal
      • To learn and put into practice grant-writing skills, including letters of intent, drafts of proposals, budgets, and follow-up reports
      • To increase social media presence
      • To edit and revise handbooks if necessary
      • To write original pieces for update letters and quarterly newsletters, highlighting organizational accomplishments and issues
      • To write PSAs and articles to advertise events
      • To write scripts for events, radio spots, commercials, etc.
      • To perform voice work for commercials and radio ads
      • To increase networking and relationship-building skills at all organizational and community functions (some on weekends or outside normal business hours)
      • To assist with management of volunteers
      • To work on special projects depending on intern’s unique skills and interests
    • Qualifications: Intern applicants must be friendly and outgoing, have strong writing and computer skills, be comfortable speaking to groups, and possess the ability to multi-task. Graphic/web design and/or database knowledge is a plus. Junior and Senior students preferred.

    AkinsCrisp Public Strategies Internship

Center for Economic Development Internet Marketing Internship

    • Paid position for a web designer with previous experience to work with the University of Alabama Center for Economic Development on a partnership project with Black Belt Treasures, a nonprofit art gallery in Camden, Alabama which provides business services to artists across Alabama
    • Position will entail between 5 and 10 hours a week at your convenience improving the aesthetic quality and management aspects of the website which allows the Blackbelt Treasures staff to promote the sale of fine art works, provide resources to artists for professional development, and maintain relevant website information.
