The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking interns for Summer 2017.  The intern would assist with video; manage DJJ website/social media projects; write articles for the DJJ website and/or DJJ Digest (official DJJ publication); write press releases and media alerts; provide on-location photography and videography work for various DJJ events; collaborate with colleagues on the DJJ Communications team on creative photography shots, brochures, posters and marketing campaigns; produce, develop and edit photos/videos for DJJ website, social media, seminars, meetings, workshops and other purposes using Adobe Creative Suite software.

This unpaid internship is in Decatur, Georgia from May to August.

Applicant requirements:

  • Enrolled at an accredited university, in good academic standing.
  • Working toward an undergraduate or higher degree in Communications or related fields
  • At least 18 years of age, have no felony convictions, and submit to a criminal history background check
  • Ability to write in news-related style
  • Proficiency in writing for the web and/or social media,
  • Familiar with Adobe Creative programs (especially Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign)
  • Experience with event photography/videography is a plus
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be reliable, trustworthy and comfortable working in an office environment and as part of a close-knit team
