GirlSpring (www.girlspring.com) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower girls ages 13-18, by giving them access to the resources they need to make better life choices, informed decisions, and ultimately lead better lives. GirlSpring is seeking separate social media and blogger interns, for fall semester and for spring semester.
The Social Media Intern will work directly with the website team (Atlas Digital Marketing) to increase visitation and engagement to www.girlspring.com, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook (possibly). The intern will also perform outreach about GirlSpring to online information outlets including blogs, social networking sites, and the online communications of allied nonprofit organizations.
Bloggers will be featured on their website and on social media, will play an integral role in the web team, and in the strategic development of www.girlspring.com. This is a flexible position, and most work can be done remotely. The internship will, however, include weekly in person meetings with the web team at the GirlSpring office in Birmingham, AL.
To apply: Send an essay, 250-500 words, (jpeg, word, or pdf) explaining why you are interested in this internship and, if applicable, be sure to include some ideas on how to grow the audience for www.girlspring.com. Include name and contact information on the essay. Applications should be sent to Kristen@girlspring.com. The fall semester internship deadline is September 15 and spring semester deadline is December 1. Internships are unpaid.
