UACED Communications Manager

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications plan for community outreach project between the College of Social Work and UACED.

Would prefer Graduate Student Assistant, but will consider Undergraduate Student Assistant who plans to be on campus through December 2019. Will work as part of a project team supporting a joint project between the College of Social Work and the UA Center for Economic Development (UACED). Applicants with an interest/experience in Public Relations, Communications, Graphic Design and/or Marketing are encouraged to apply. This is a paid internship.


  • Design of communications plan for disseminating information to target audiences
  • Graphic Design of collateral material
  • Development of written material to be used on website, for presentations, for mediadistribution, and promotion of program, workshops and events
  • Input to website design and content (ideally some experience in website design)
  • Will maintain and update databases, distribution lists and electronic files.


  • Skills in graphic design and writing
  • Knowledge and experience in design software, in addition to advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Exceptional work habits: self-motivation, orientation towards quality and detail, proven ability to schedule complex projects and deliver perfect work by deadlines, able to work independently and meet deadlines as assigned.

Work Schedule: Preference for blocks of time, schedule can be negotiated.

Expected Starting Date: November 1, 2018

Hours Per Week: 12-20

Location: UACED, 621 Greensboro Avenue, Tuscaloosa
