About:
Students have the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with UA staff, architects, engineers, and consultants on an active multi-million-dollar real estate development project on campus in Tuscaloosa. The project will entail facilitating marketing studies, plans and research, business plan development, financial strategies and modeling, engineering and site planning, restaurant and hotel management, legal structures, interior design concepts as well as construction estimating for a component of the larger real estate development plan. The internship(s) will result in a recommendation from the internship team on how a certain business component of the development should be designed and operated.
The University will select a diverse interdiseplinary team of approximately 8-10 students with the skill sets to facilitate the project and impact all aspects of the delivery cycle of the project from concept to opening and operations. All majors are welcome to apply, but this internship opportunity may be specifically relevant to business, communications, legal, hotel and restaurant management, interior design, and engineering majors.
The paid internship will take place in Tuscaloosa but will require students to work independently as well as part of the larger team. Hours are flexible but may range from 20-30 hours a week from end of classes in May to August.
Requirements:
Interested students should submit their resume to mwwaller@ua.edu with a cover letter describing why they are the ideal candidate for the internship, as well as references.
