Job Description

The Public Relations/Social Media Intern will support the efforts of the External Communications team through a variety of activities including media outreach, special projects, traditional and social media placement tracking, research on appropriate media contacts and editorial calendars, photography and content development for Children’s social media channels and various administrative tasks. The PR/Social Intern will have the opportunity to learn about cultivating relationships with media, facilitating news stories and creating compelling content for Children’s external audiences.
The program allows interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience related to their field of study by working on meaningful projects alongside Children’s professionals. Interns may explore career paths and apply for full-time positions upon successful completion of the program.

Project/position description:

  • Develop relationships with media, facilitate news stories, and host media on Children’s campuses
  • Support the team’s monthly traditional and social media placement tracking
  • Research appropriate media contacts and editorial calendars
  • Participate in the development of communications campaigns featuring multimedia content and influencers
  • Brainstorm and create compelling content for Children’s external audiences
  • Capture content at events to share with media and social media
  • Assist with developing content for social media, including compelling patient stories and hospital news
  • Help build influencer marketing program, including identifying and securing new relationships for the brand

Education

  • College or graduate student that is currently working towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration or other related field, required

Qualifications:

  • Progression toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, English or related field
  • Strong work ethic demonstrated initiative, attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Solid process, analytical, problem solving and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to represent Children’s in a mature and professional manner
  • Photography and social media videography experience preferred
