The Web Development Intern will assist in the development, implementation, andmanagement of the City of Tuscaloosa’s websites and internet/intranet applications. This role provides hands-on experience in web design, content management, and web support, working closely with the communications team and departmental website liaisons.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in maintaining the City’s home page, subdomains, and related websites.
- Support web-related work and technical applications, including troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Help ensure a consistent visual image across all Cityweb properties by following established standards for fonts, formatting, images, and layout.
- Learn and apply web development standards(W3C) and languages such asHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms like WordPress.
- Provide support to editors, publishers, and users; collaborate with various departments to define and maintain web content.
- Participate in regular reviews to ensurewebsite content is current and accurate.
- Help maintain archives of templates, images, and related records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, marketing or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of web design, development, or content management systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress is preferred.
