City of Tuscaloosa Web Development Intern – Summer 2026


The Web Development Intern will assist in the development, implementation, andmanagement of the City of Tuscaloosa’s websites and internet/intranet applications. This role provides hands-on experience in web design, content management, and web support, working closely with the communications team and departmental website liaisons.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in maintaining the City’s home page, subdomains, and related websites.
  • Support web-related work and technical applications, including troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Help ensure a consistent visual image across all Cityweb properties by following established standards for fonts, formatting, images, and layout.
  • Learn and apply web development standards(W3C) and languages such asHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms like WordPress.
  • Provide support to editors, publishers, and users; collaborate with various departments to define and maintain web content.
  • Participate in regular reviews to ensurewebsite content is current and accurate.
  • Help maintain archives of templates, images, and related records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, marketing or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of web design, development, or content management systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress is preferred.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform under moderate stress.

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light physical work and operate standard office equipment.
  • Visual and manual dexterity to work with computers and related equipment.
  • Ability to discern color may be required.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
