Theatre Tuscaloosa is one of Alabama’s premier community theatres, dedicated to bringing high-quality, entertaining live performances to West Alabama. As we gear up for an exciting fall lineup – including our highly anticipated productions of Clue and Home for the Holidays – we are looking for a creative, energetic storyteller to bring their social media talents to our organization.
Position Overview:
Are you a University of Alabama student studying social media, public relations, or digital media? Do you love live entertainment and want to build a standout portfolio? Theatre Tuscaloosa is seeking a Social Media Intern to manage, grow, and energize our online community.
This hands-on role is perfect for a self-starter who wants to apply classroom theories to real-world campaigns, from capturing raw behind-the-scenes content at rehearsals to engaging with local arts influencers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Plan, shoot, and edit highly engaging short-form video content (TikToks, Instagram Reels) and static posts showcasing rehearsals, cast spotlights, and set construction.
- Campaign Strategy: Assist in developing and executing promotional strategies for upcoming productions, including targeted outreach to specific communities.
- Community Engagement: Monitor social channels, respond to comments, and foster interactions on Facebook and Instagram to drive ticket sales and community involvement.
- Analytics Tracking: Monitor post performance and provide monthly insights on engagement metrics to help optimize future content.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at the University of Alabama, actively pursuing a degree or coursework in Social Media, Public Relations, Digital Media, Communication Studies, or a related field.
- Strong familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
- Basic photo/video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, or similar tools).
- Excellent written communication skills with a knack for playful, engaging copywriting.
- Reliability, strong organizational skills, and a passion for the arts or live theatre.
- Ability to attend occasional evening rehearsals or weekend performances to capture live content.
