College-Wide Travel Programs
At C&IS, learning isn’t limited to the classroom. With an emphasis on experiential learning and an understanding of the value of cultural immersion, we’ve developed travel programs specifically designed for students in our college.
The College of Communication & Information Sciences and The University of Alabama partner with International Studies Abroad (ISA) to provide global internships where you will earn UA credit. These 8-week programs start in either May or June and are custom-designed based on your goals and interests. ISA will match you with a business or organization based on your field. All students pay in-state tuition for their internship course (yes, even if you are out-of-state).
C&IS places students in the following countries: Australia, Chile, China, England, Ireland, New Zealand, South Korea and Spain.
Applications are due in early Spring. To learn more, set up an appointment with your Study Abroad advisor by calling (205) 348-5256 or stop by 135 B. B. Comer Hall.
C&IS faculty develop courses with travel components and UA courses specifically designed to be taught oversees. Through programs like C&IS in Paris, Alpine Living international magazine production course and communication studies investigation of deaf culture in Washington D.C., students receive course credit while experiencing the world outside of Reese Phifer.
Check back throughout the year for information on new and developing travel courses that may suit your interests.
