The United States is one of the world’s largest markets for civil and military aircraft, helicopters and space activities. More than just a marketplace in which to sell, the U.S. has long been a valued industrial partner to Airbus. Since 1990, Airbus has spent some $200 billion dollars with hundreds of U.S. suppliers – $48 billion in the last three years alone. That spending helps support 275,000 American jobs. That business also makes Airbus the largest export company for the U.S. aerospace industry.

Airbus directly employs more than 3,200 people across the U.S. at a growing network of businesses and facilities. Among them are two assembly lines that produce “made-in-America” commercial airliners as well as helicopters for both military and civilian customers; two engineering centers; and an aircraft spares facility that stocks nearly all the proprietary hardware used on Airbus aircraft. The company also has a large in-country training center for pilots, crews and maintenance personnel that operate its jetliners; and runs a subsidiary offering air traffic management products and services.

The intern position supports account teams as follows: assists in the development of press materials; helps coordinate meetings, special events and/or conferences; develops media lists; monitors media coverage and trends; researches consumer and marketplace trends; creates and maintains coverage reports; coordinates the development and delivery of press kits, develops and writes pitch letters and provides additional account related support as necessary.

Open to current juniors and seniors and recent graduates interested in Public Relations with a major in communications, public health, public affairs, journalism, political science, marketing, English or related course study. First-rate writing and organizational skills with an attention to detail are necessary.

The Museum Seminar (MuSe) Internship Program awards ten-week, nine-month, or twelve-month internships to students interested in a career in the arts and fields related to The Met’s many departments, at both The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters. In addition to developing skills through projects within Museum departments, interns participate in a weekly seminar series and interact directly with the Museum’s visitors by leading public tours in the galleries.
Long-term nine-month and twelve-month internships are also available. These long-term interns fully participate in the MuSe program during the summer.
The MuSe Internship Program begins on the first Monday in June. All interns must start on this date; there are no exceptions. Ten-week internships end the second week of August, when the summer MuSe program concludes. Long-term interns remain and work with their supervisors for the remainder of their internship periods.
The Met strongly encourages applications from students who are members of groups underrepresented in careers related to museums and the visual arts. Applications for summer are due each January — we will not accept any applications or application materials.

Each intern is placed in one of the Museum’s departments under the supervision of a full-time staff member. The Met has over forty department areas that host interns from a wide variety of academic backgrounds with an interest in art and museums. For example, students majoring in computer science can apply to intern in our Digital Department or Information Systems & Technology. Art history and other humanities students gain valuable experience not only in our curatorial departments, but also in areas like Editorial, Education, External Affairs, or Development. Studio art, design, or photography majors have thrived in areas like Digital, Graphic or Exhibition Design, Imaging, or as part of our Creative Practice team in Education. Our Department of Scientific Research often welcomes students with a strong background in science.
Interns may also be placed at The Met Cloisters to work on education, library, or curatorial projects. The departmental placement will be onsite at The Met Cloisters, but these interns will participate fully in orientation and all other intern activities and programs. If you have a specific interest in The Met Cloisters, be sure to select this museum area on your application.
