Who We Are

Our students, faculty, staff, and alumni are leaders, advocates, innovators and listeners.

Whether it is doggedly pursuing an investigative story, creating unique experiences through film or live production, leading corporations or agencies, or growing the libraries and public institutions that make our communities strong, members of our college have the vision, expertise, and knowledge needed to change the world.

That’s what makes us one of the most comprehensive programs in the U.S. and one of the top communication schools in the world. That’s what makes us – us.

We are C&IS.

From the Dean

As times, techniques and technology change, how we tell stories, grow organizations and build communities also changes. But at the center is a strong understanding of the fundamental principles, skills and experiences that make up the communication and information sciences. Whether it is covering breaking news stories; promoting global products and brands; recording unique, personal oral histories; or providing storybooks for local children, communication and information professionals are at the center of who we are and how we learn to live together.

Together we realize the power to make our world healthier, more prosperous, more honest and a bit more fun.

Sincerely,

Dean Brian Butler
