About

Janet Walker serves as a senior instructor, as well as associate chair for undergraduate programs in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations. She teaches courses across the curriculum that emphasize the development of visual and written communication skills. She is also the faculty editor for Platform Magazine, a student-produced digital magazine focused on matters related to the public relations industry.

Impact Beyond the University

Walker also teaches APR 419, better known as the “Secret Meals” class in which she guides students through the process of creating and promoting an event that raises funds for Secret Meals for Hungry Children. This experiential learning course gives students the opportunity to not only practice and refine their skills, but to also impact the community around them.

A Passion for Teaching and Design

In the classroom, Walker encourages students to become problem solvers. Her classes focus on making thoughtful decisions and carefully considering our strategic communication efforts to maximize impact. She guides her students to become thoughtful professionals, skilled in their craft and ready for the next challenge.
