Rebecca Robinson is Director of Scholastic Media and an Instructor in the Department of Journalism and Creative Media at the University of Alabama, where she has served since 2017. Her work bridges journalism, design, and education, with a focus on preparing students for professional reporting and visual storytelling. 

Robinson teaches News Writing and Reporting, emphasizing effective interviewing, accuracy, and adherence to AP style. Her teaching draws on a diverse professional background that spans journalism, graphic design, and editorial leadership. 

Impact Beyond the University 

Before her current role, Robinson worked as a graphic designer at Crimson Homes and served as an adjunct professor teaching intermediate journalism design and related courses at the University of Alabama. Her professional experience also includes work as a designer for Lee Enterprises and as art director for the international magazine Alpine Living

In addition to professional media work, Robinson has contributed editorially to a range of student publications, supporting student-led journalism and creative expression. 

A Passion for Journalism, Design, and Student Media 

In the classroom and through her leadership of scholastic media, Robinson emphasizes clear communication, strong visual design, and ethical journalism practices. She encourages students to develop both reporting and design skills, preparing them to work effectively in integrated newsroom environments. 

Through teaching, mentorship, and media leadership, Robinson supports students as they build professional confidence and the skills needed to succeed in journalism and media careers.
