About

Sybil Bullock’s work bridges academic instruction, professional librarianship and applied research services in scientific and medical settings. She serves as an internship coordinator, bringing extensive experience from her mentorship.

After graduating from the University of Alabama’s School of Library and Information Studies, Bullock accepted a leadership position directing the scientific and technical research center at Redstone Arsenal (RSIC) in Huntsville. Following her retirement from that role, she returned to school to earn an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree and subsequently began serving as the internship coordinator at SLIS.

Impact Beyond the University

In addition to her academic role, Bullock works as a library consultant, providing research support for physicians, nurses, executives, and other professionals at STVHS. Her work includes conducting literature searches, managing document delivery, and participating in institutional committees such as Continuing Medical Education (CME).

She also serves as a consultant for medical libraries across the United States, supporting information services in healthcare environments and contributing her expertise to a wide range of professional contexts.

A Commitment to Experiential Learning and Professional Mentorship

Through her work, Bullock has developed an extensive professional network that she actively draws upon to support University of Alabama SLIS students. As the internship coordinator, she connects students with opportunities in special, science, and medical librarianship, preparing them for specialized career paths through hands-on experience and professional mentorship.
