Dr. Suellen W. Epps has dedicated her career to helping students discover the power of learning, literacy and information. As an educator, school leader and librarian, she believes libraries are more than places to access information.
With 29 years of experience in public education, Epps is passionate about information literacy, community engagement and preparing future librarians to serve as leaders in schools and communities. Her work emphasizes the essential role libraries play in empowering learners of all ages to think critically.
Impact Beyond the University
Throughout her career as a teacher and administrator, Epps has worked to strengthen educational communities by expanding access to information and creating opportunities for student success. Her leadership has demonstrated how libraries can serve as centers for collaboration, innovation and meaningful community engagement.
Now, as a faculty member at The University of Alabama, she continues that mission by preparing the next generation of librarians and information professionals to make a lasting difference in the lives of the people they serve.

A proud graduate of The University of Alabama’s School of Library and Information Studies, Epps returns to the Capstone excited to mentor students pursuing careers in librarianship and information services. She is committed to creating a supportive and accessible learning environment. Epps believes meaningful mentorship begins with being invested in each student’s success.
