About

Dr. Anneliese Bolland is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work focuses on health communication, adolescent risk, economic poverty, and program evaluation. Much of her research explores the risk and protective factors that shape outcomes for young people growing up in economically disadvantaged communities.

By combining expertise in communication studies, public health, and social work, Dr. Bolland’s research addresses how individuals and families navigate systemic challenges and how communication can promote resilience and positive change. She has contributed to the design and evaluation of community-based interventions that improve health equity and opportunity.

Impact Beyond the University

As an evaluator, Dr. Bolland supports projects in multiple disciplines (e.g., biology, botany, education) to maximize outcomes and achieve goals and objectives, ensuring that small- and large-scale programs are both effective and responsive. Her applied research supports stakeholders to develop evidence-based strategies that make a measurable difference in people’s lives. Without communication, success is not possible.

A Passion for Teaching and Mentorship

In her teaching, Dr. Bolland emphasizes the skills and application related to research methodology. She prepares students to systematically approach questions, identify appropriate data, and engage in analysis to answer those questions. Through mentorship, she nurtures the next generation of scholars and professionals committed to improving lives through communication, advocacy, and evidence-based solutions.
