His research examines the intersection of journalism, AI and digital media, with a particular target on the Global South and the ways technology shapes information access and credibility.
His work explores topics including AI in journalism, misinformation and disinformation, digital influence operations and media innovation, while highlighting perspectives that are often overlooked in global communication research. Published in leading journals such as Digital Journalism, Journalism Studies, Mass Communication and Society and Media, Culture & Society, Dr. Gondwe’s analysis helps advance international conversations about the future of journalism in an increasingly digital world.

Gondwe’s research extends beyond academia through collaborations with some of the world’s leading institutions studying technology and society. As a Faculty Associate with Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, he contributes to research examining artificial intelligence, digital governance and information integrity.
