Academic Honor Council
The Academic Honor Council is a collective group of student justices from across the college who serve as ambassadors for academic integrity. The justices promote high ethical standards, educate the C&IS community about academic integrity, and encourage others to always act according to the values of the Capstone Creed.

The Advertising and Public Relations Student Initiative Board serves as a bridge between students and faculty, representing the voices and opinions of advertising and PR students in the faculty hiring process while fostering community, professional development, and collaboration.

Bama ASL Club
As an organization, our goal is to bring awareness to the importance of the Deaf community and Deaf identity within our society. Through learning beginner ASL, hearing from Deaf individuals, and community advocates, we hope to bridge this gap.

BEA Student Media Club
The BEA Student Media Club is a student-driven organization designed to drive insights, excellence in media production, career preparation, and advancement in media production for students, educators and media professionals.

Capstone Agency
Capstone Agency is a nationally recognized, student-run integrated marketing communications firm at the University of Alabama. The agency equips students with practical experience, helping them refine their technical skills and develop business acumen through work with real-world clients. Students gain hands-on experience in strategic planning, content creation, media relations, copywriting and beyond. Capstone Agency empowers the next generation of communications professionals by bridging classroom knowledge with impactful, professional-grade work.
Applications occur on a rolling basis through both fall and spring semesters. When opened, students can access applications through a portal on the website or Capstone Agency socials. Applications are open to all students, regardless of academic level or major. An exceptional candidate will have strong academic credentials (including the completion of CIS 260 and CIS 250 coursework), real-world experience in business/marketing, and a hardworking, collaborative spirit!

Capstone Association of Black Journalists
The Capstone Association of Black Journalists is a student-led organization dedicated to preparing members for successful careers in journalism by producing a professional newsletter, sharing valuable opportunities, and fostering a strong network of support and growth.

Career Center at C&IS
The Career Center @ C&IS and Tisch Student Services are dedicated to helping students identify and reach their career goals. Meet with our career services staff to participate in mock interviews and resume critiques, network with industry professionals and attend professional development events.

Capstone Communication Student Society
This organization promotes the fields of communication and offers members special invitations and VIP access ranging from social activities to prominent speakers in the field of communication. CCSS is open to all C&IS majors and minors for membership. There is a membership fee. Upon graduation, students can transition their membership into the alumni group, Capstone Communication Society, that follows the same mission.

Communication and Media Preview (CAMP) Leaders
Communication and Media Preview (CAMP) offers high school students the opportunity to interact with UA faculty, staff, alumni and current students while learning about the communication and media industries.

C&IS Embedded Therapist – Counseling Center
The Embedded Therapist (ET) within C&IS offers accessible, confidential mental health support tailored for C&IS students. Located within Tisch Student Services, the ET provides brief individual counseling, drop-in consults, group counseling, and referrals, serving as a direct link between students and the UA Counseling Center.
The C&IS Embedded Therapist will be leading an 8-week support group for C&IS students starting September 29. Students interested in joining can sign up here: https://counseling.sa.ua.edu/counseling/support-groups/

C&IS in the UK
Earn 3 credit hours of humanities and see the world from a new perspective in this faculty-led study abroad to London and Edinburgh!
This course in presentation skills and communicating across cultures takes learning beyond the classroom, immersing you in two of the UK’s most iconic cities. National Association of Hispanic Journalists
The UA Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists is an affiliate of the educational and charitable organization founded more than 40 years ago to focus on the recognition and professional advancement of Hispanic students, professionals and educators in the field of journalism. Through internships, scholarships, the NAHJ Student Project and the NAHJ Emerging Journalists Program, NAHJ is committed to preparing the next generation of journalists. Membership in UA Chapter of NAHJ is open to ALL students, regardless race or ethnicity.

Nineteen Fifty-Six Magazine
Nineteen Fifty-Six is the first Black student-led magazine at The University of Alabama. Nineteen Fifty-Six was created to celebrate and highlight Black culture, Black excellence and Black student experiences at the University.

Platform Magazine
Platform Magazine is an online, student-run publication supported by The Plank Center that is focused on the discussion and advancement of the public relations industry. We strive to encourage ethical practice and leadership, to facilitate discussion among our readers, and to provide insight into the ever-changing world of public relations. Platform Magazine always welcomes passionate, contributing writers. We value the exchange of public relations-based content and ideas, and we encourage our readers to help shape our publication.

Public Relations Council of Alabama
Public Relations Council of Alabama is a student-led organization that invites students from all experience levels to learn about the public relations field. All are welcome.

Public Relations Council of Alabama – Community Cultivation
Public Relations Council of Alabama Community Cultivation is a student-led organization that partners with local nonprofits to support their public relations efforts. Through strategic communication and outreach, we help amplify their missions and connect them with the communities they serve.

Public Relations Student Society of America
The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. We serve our members by enhancing their knowledge of public relations, connecting them to a national network of PR students and professionals, and providing access to professional development opportunities. We host general meetings once a month where we invite PR professionals to share their experiences and knowledge. We also host Dinner & Learns where members can attend workshops to develop PR skills.

Rising Tide Film Festival
The Rising Tide Film Festival, formerly known as the Black Warrior Film Festival, was founded in 2013. The Rising Tide Film Festival is an independent, student-led organization that strives to provide an outlet for students to showcase their films to a large audience, as well as to create a film festival environment where student filmmakers can meet and learn from industry professionals, network with other filmmakers and celebrate film. Along with this, Rising Tide hosts events throughout the year to create a place for film lovers to connect.

Social Media Ambassadors
C&IS Social Media Ambassadors are the creative minds and on-camera talent behind our College’s student social media. These standout student creators partner with College leadership to spotlight the best of C&IS, from major events and can’t-miss opportunities to everyday moments worth celebrating. They dream up scroll-stopping content, film fun and informative reels, and help shape the voice and vibe of the College one post at a time.

Tide Tech Comms is bridging the gap between technical and non-technical majors. If you’re interested in social media, photography and videography, professional writing, and other skills, our goal is to educate and inform UA and beyond. We partner with multiple technical organizations on campus such as Theme Park Engineering and Design, UA EcoCAR, and more.

UA Ad Team
UA AdTeam competes in the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition, where students get to pitch a real client their campaign to solve a real problem for the client.

UA Bateman Team
The UA Bateman Team competes in a nation-wide Public Relations case study competition through Public Relations Student Society of America. During the competition, teams of up to six conduct research, execute campaigns, and present their results.
