State of Alabama Legislative Services: Spring 2026 Internships

The Alabama Legislative Internship Program was established to involve college students in the state legislature by allowing them to observe and participate in the legislative process of state government. The internship coincides with the 2026 Regular Session of the Legislature (January 6-April 27, 2026). Interns report to the State House in Montgomery and are expected to work Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Internship Requirements

  • Each intern must be a Junior or higher in good standing in college or graduate school
  • Each intern must be an Alabama resident or be attending a college or university in Alabama
  • Interns may have any college major

Intern Job Description

  • Interns will be responsible for a number of legislative and professional development tasks including but not limited to:providing constituent services, assisting clerks with committee meetings, and observing the legislative process.
  • Interns should be punctual, dressed professionally at all times, posses strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills, have the ability to exercise discretion as well as confidentiality, be interested in professional and personal growth.
