Kaitlan Collins, UA alumna and CNN host, has been inducted into TIME’s TIME100 Next List. The list celebrates individuals who shape the modern world in ways that may not be immediately recognized in traditional structures or celebrated during their lifetimes. Collins has been recognized for her sharp reporting on politics, from her time as a White House correspondent to her work on The Source with Kaitlan Collins.
“Now in its fifth year, the TIME100 Next list was created to recognize that many of today’s most influential leaders are individuals who are not waiting long in life to make an impact,” wrote Sam Jacobs for TIME, “Nor are they eager to respect the status quo by following the traditional power structures and pathways that have determined what influence looked like in the past.”
Collins started her career as an entertainment reporter for The Daily Caller, eventually becoming their White House correspondent at the beginning of the Trump administration. In 2017, she moved to CNN, becoming their youngest White House correspondent in history at 28. She worked as a correspondent during the 2020 general election, as well.
“She is whip smart, researches relentlessly and works tirelessly. I’m not sure how many phones she has, but there’s at least one pressed to her ear throughout the day as she checks in with sources in campaigns, Congress and courtrooms” wrote Anderson Cooper, “She will outwit, outplay and outlast us all. She is that good, and she is only just getting started.”
Collins graduated from The University of Alabama in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and journalism. Other than TIME, Collins has been recognized by Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list. She a proud alumna and vocal Alabama football fan.
