Job Description

A team member in this entry-level role will assist Obsidian’s account teams on any and all of the firm’s clients in a tactical fashion. Previous work/internship with an agency or in-house team is a plus. The chosen candidate must work well in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, organized, detail- and deadline-oriented, able to learn new software and technology quickly, and able to work independently among their various projects and accounts with multiple account managers. The selected applicant will also have excellent writing skills (with proficiency in AP Style), experience in media relations, knowledge in strategic communication planning and execution, and knowledge of and experience in creating/executing social media campaigns, blogs and other online content. Requirements include living in or relocating to the metro Memphis area, and a hybrid work schedule (three days in an office, two days at home if desired). The intern position is a paid (40 hours per week) role. Obsidian PR is culture-forward and promotes a positive work environment. Desired Skills and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, integrated communications, strategic communications or similar

Previous PR internship or similar (required)

Strong social media skills

Excellent writing skills, especially in AP Style

Experience with platforms such as Meta/Business Suite/Ads Manager, LinkedIn, MailChimp, HeyOrca or social media planning tools, media monitoring services, Google Business Suite, Wrike or task management tools, as well as Canva and smartphone video/photo capability (preferred)

Past agency experience or in-house work
