The Naval Criminal Investigative Service Association (NCISA) is a non-government organization whose members have an affiliation with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) as retired, former, or current employees.
The NCISA publishes two issues of our magazine, The Gold Shield, annually. When sufficient articles have been prepared, we also may publish a digital issue. The Gold Shield helps document the unique history of NCIS through the stories of its employees. Each issue offers a variety of articles from cases and operations, to legal updates affecting membership, to matters of interest such as post NCIS opportunities.
The NCISA seeks individuals who possess strong academic credentials, outstanding character, and a high degree of motivation with strong oral and written communication skills. Interns will conduct interviews with NCISA members, perform research as needed, and author high quality articles for The Gold Shield.
An internship with NCISA offers students a unique perspective into the history of the real NCIS, our mission, our people, and what it takes to serve in an elite civilian federal law enforcement organization with global locations. NCISA members reveal interesting cases and operations across multiple mission areas they supported. Some will also highlight new hobbies or fascinating post-NCIS career paths that range from philanthropies to publishing, security, small businesses, even farming.
Each intern will be assigned a mentor who will introduce them to the world of NCIS, familiarize the intern with the missions of the real NCIS, arrange visits and interviews, assist with interview preparation and provide editing guidance as needed.
This internship will be remote but where possible face-to-face meetings are encouraged and will be facilitated.
Eligibility requirements include enrollment in an undergraduate at the junior or senior level, or graduate school, minimum 3.0 GPA or higher. Preferred areas of study are journalism, history, or suitable program.
