The YMCA of Tuscaloosa is hiring a Development Intern. The Development Intern will support the Community Development Director in advancing the YMCA of Tuscaloosa’s mission through fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development, including donor relations, campaign execution, and event planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Annual Campaign Support
- Assist with planning and execution of the YMCA Annual Campaign
- Help track donations, pledges, and campaign progress
- Support preparation of campaign materials and communications
Donor Stewardship & Cultivation
- Assist with donor recognition and thank-you efforts
- Help maintain donor records and database updates
- Support outreach efforts to engage and retain donors
Marketing & Communications
- Assist in creating content for email, social media, and print materials
- Support storytelling efforts that highlight YMCA impact
- Help maintain brand consistency across platforms
Community Engagement
- Assist in building relationships with community partners
- Support outreach initiatives to increase awareness of YMCA programs
- Represent the YMCA at community events when needed
Event Planning & Support
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising and community events
- Help coordinate event logistics, materials, and volunteer support
- Provide on-site event assistance as needed
Qualifications:
- Current college student or recent graduate (preferred fields: marketing, communications, nonprofit management, business, or related field)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
- Interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, or community development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and familiarity with social media platforms
