NASA Science Communication Internship

Science Literacy Through Discovery-Driven Design
The internship position is open to college juniors and seniors majoring in communications or with an interest in science communications. Prospective interns may find themselves working alongside STEM education specialists, project coordinators, and program managers in support of a variety of NASA-sponsored activities: video production, spearheading social media campaigns, providing assistance to our award-winning media specialists, conducting research in support of program proposals, supporting formal or informal outreach events, and/or writing various copy for our media-enabled programs.

Through this experience, interns will:

  • Support and help design outreach experiences that invite curiosity, questioning, and discovery
  • Collaborate with partners and clients to create multimedia resources for public engagement
  • Use multiple platforms to amplify outreach efforts and reach broader audiences
  • Practice translating complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging messages
  • Analyze engagement data to understand how audiences interact with outreach content
  • Build organizational and presentation skills through outreach and professional learning experiences
