The Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) Conference Internship was created to give students the opportunity for hands-on events management and learning while networking with public relations professionals in a conference setting.
About the Internship
The SPRF Conference Internship offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how a professional development conference is executed from start to finish. Interns will gain real-world experience working closely with seasoned communications leaders and event planners, while developing skills in project management, event coordination, and digital content creation.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will assist with a variety of tasks before and during the conference, including:
- Content Development and Brand Storytelling
- Assist with photo and video capture throughout the conference to support real-time and post-event communications
- o Draft social media captions and contribute content ideas in collaboration with SPRF’s communications team
- o Conduct brief attendee or speaker interviews to support storytelling across digital channels
- Event Operations and Attendee Experience
- Prepare registration materials and assist with setup, check-in, and wayfinding
- Provide on-site support during sessions and events, including hospitality, space transitions, and general logistics
- Ensure consistent presentation of SPRF branding and materials throughout the venue
- Speaker and Program Coordination
- Support breakout session setup, AV needs, and speaker transitions
- Serve as a session liaison to ensure speakers are prepared and programming runs on schedule
- Collect informal feedback from attendees to share with the planning team
- Strategic Engagement and Feedback Collection
- Distribute and collect session or event evaluations
- Contribute observations to the post-conference debrief and recommendations for future improvement
- Help document key highlights to inform future SPRF programming and outreach
Time Commitment
Interns must be available on-site at the conference location from 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 through 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22.
Interns who apply and are accepted to the program early will be included in monthly planning calls and committee meetings as scheduled.
Compensation
While the internship is unpaid, it offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience, enhance your resume, and build relationships with professionals across the PR industry.

Please Note: Interns are responsible for arranging their own travel and accommodations for the duration of the conference.
