Since 2005, Lollapalooza has been part of the cultural fabric of Chicago, where the music world gathers in Grant Park for a four-day festival each summer. The Community Engagement Intern will support C3 Presents’ ongoing philanthropic initiatives to deepen connections between Lollapalooza and Chicago’s citizens with a focus on community partnerships, arts administration, youth development, program management, and grantmaking. We are seeking an emerging leader who is passionate about the City of Chicago, highly organized, and able to both plan and execute impactful community initiatives. 

Location: Chicago, IL

Internship Type: Part time; 15 – 20 Hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management: Support the Community Engagement Manager in identifying, executing, and evaluating initiatives aimed at broadening access to Lollapalooza, and careers within the live music entertainment industry for Chicago residents.
  • Event Planning: Aid in the development and management of community engagement events and on-site activations for Lollapalooza.
  • Partnership Development: Help identify, cultivate, and steward partnerships between Chicago community organizations and Lollapalooza.
  • Program Evaluation: Contribute to program evaluation by tracking and measuring impacts, facilitating continuous improvement of community engagement initiatives.
  • Community Outreach: Positively represent Lollapalooza when engaging with community organizations and at events, with a focus on fostering an inclusive and welcoming music festival.
  • Other duties, projects, and events as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to develop lasting connections with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Park District, DCASE (Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events), and/or Chicago-based nonprofit organizations.
  • Proficient in various computer applications, including MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), with the ability to leverage technology for effective program management and evaluation.
  • Previous experience in event planning, youth development, community outreach, or marketing is a plus.
