The content creation and management intern will work with the VP of Marketing and Communications at Visit Tuscaloosa to assist in creating and managing content across all platforms, including social media, blogs, email marketing, event promotion, print materials and web copy.
This role offers an intern the opportunity to work with several projects, a diverse set of stakeholders, and is a unique way to learn more about the Tuscaloosa and West Alabama community.
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create engaging social media copy/content
· Conduct interviews and research, and produce professional content
· Schedule, interview and collate written and electronic data for story subject matter
· Research materials and fact-check data
· Assist in the writing of Visit Tuscaloosa blogs
· Draft press releases as needed
· Research local restaurants, attractions, and other points of interest to ensure information is accurate in visitor resources and on the Visit Tuscaloosa website
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current student studying Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or English or similar study
· Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in AP style
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability to multi-task
· Experience with and general knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn and has the ability to tailor communication style for different social platforms
· Graphic design and photo/video editing experience is not necessary but would be beneficial
· Great attitude and ability to work well with a team
HOURS PER WEEK: The ideal candidate will have the ability to work 10-15 hours per week.
COMPENSATION: This is not a paid internship. However, Visit Tuscaloosa offers a great inside look at the community and allows the opportunity to participate in many partner events.
