Internship Program Overview: PubClub.com, an on-line website and blog that was featured in the fall issue of Alumni Magazine, is seeking Journalism interns to provide student life experiences and content. Students will be given access to the site and have the ability to post articles with the latest SEO techniques. You will be able to cover subjects of your choice (pending advance approval) on aspects of student campus life. This can include the atmosphere at sporting events, concerts, special events or the general college student lifestyle. Stories are not limited to Tuscaloosa; you are free to submit stories from your travels away from campus. You are also encouraged to develop and pitch your own story ideas for publication. 

The minimum requirement is to provide four stories per month. The start and end dates are flexible.

This internship is ideal for students who want to get into Journalism or write for websites. It provides the opportunity to learn writing techniques and principals from an award-winning journalist in today’s web-based environment. It might be possible to receive press credentials or other comps for certain stories. 

It is a non-paid internship.

Qualifications

• Strong writer with a willingness to learn top writing techniques 

• Good social media photography and video skills. 

• You need to be well organized, follow through on assignments and meet deadlines. 

• BONUS: Social media knowledge plus PR skills in order to write a press release and pitch your internship to media (CW, Tuscaloosa News. AL.com and your hometown newspaper/media outlets)

What You Will Be Doing:

• Covering events, activities and the college lifestyle

• Conducting interviews and research for stories

• Posting stories directly onto the website, learning all the elements that goes into the process. This includes writing SEO headlines, how and where to place meta tags and meta descriptions, inserting photos and embedding videos.

• Learning proper SEO techniques utilizing the latest tools

• How to boost the post’s views by letting more people know about it

• Learning writing, editing and website posting skills from an award-winning journalist to build your resume and portfolio

This is a complete remote internship.
