MAIP Fellowship Overview:
The 4A’s Foundation’s Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) is a rigorous and immersive fellowship program designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore the dynamic fields of advertising, marketing, media, and adjacent creative industries. Within the fellowship, participants will go through professional development and career training to enhance their skills, as well as intern for 9-10 weeks with an advertising agency for the summer. Throughout the program, MAIP Fellows collaborate closely with seasoned industry professionals, allowing them to acquire invaluable hands-on career experience. After 51 successful years of the program, MAIP continues to equip, celebrate, and connect entry-level talent to immersive career experiences within the advertising and marketing industry.
Students interested in advertising, marketing, media, communications, tech, and other creative industries can apply. Some of the attributes of previous applicants are outlined below:
- Demonstrated their passion to kick-start a career in advertising and marketing through application essays and within the interview
- Identified as Asian/Asian American, Black/African American/Afro-Caribbean, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Middle Eastern, White, Multi-Racial or Multi-Ethnic (e.g. Hispanic and Black)
- Identified as neurodiverse and/or has learning and thinking differences
- Identified as part of the LGBTQIA+ community
- Identified as a person with a disability
- Were veterans, or underwent training that supports serving the U.S. in a branch of the Armed Forces
In addition, applicants must:
- Be eligible to work in the U.S., by way of student work visas and/or are citizens of the U.S.
- Have a GPA of 3.0 –> Students with a <3.0 GPA may submit an additional statement with additional context
- Be within the following academic year:
- Undergraduate college junior graduating in Spring/Summer 2026
- Undergraduate college senior graduating in Fall/Winter 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025
- Graduate student currently pursuing additional education in a specific field
- And/or are a student attending a participating 4A’s portfolio school at the time of application
- Be available to participate in the full duration of the 22-week fellowship period, and work as an intern from June through August with no pre-planned time off
Required Documents & Materials for MAIP Application:
- Unofficial Transcript
- Resume
- 1 Letter of Recommendation (signed PDF)
- 2 essay prompt responses
- Work sample/additional request to select a creative prompt to respond to for applicants w. a creative discipline (i.e. Art Direction, Copywriting, etc.)
- 2-3 minute video showing what makes you unique and why you are a good candidate for MAIP and the advertising industry
- Ask yourself: What perspective and change can I bring to the advertising industry?
